Posted by teenagehealth Friday 6 January 2012

Teenagers often fail to make fitness and health a priority after he left home and lived in another city for college. Everyday life such as eating a balanced diet and exercise are quite often not met.

Moreover, most teenagers when entering student life often leave home and become a boarding school boys. Where life is identical with the children boarding lifestyles that are less organized and less healthy. Children boarding often do not meet the needs of healthy food intake and exercise.

"Adolescents who are physically active tend to remain active throughout his life. The transition from late adolescence to early adulthood is the most dramatic decline in physical activity in almost all of one's life. Increased activity in adults is quite important. The period is a critical period where we are right really can intervene, "said Dr.. Matthew Kwan, a researcher at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada as reported from HealthNews, Wednesday (01/04/2012).

The transition from adolescence to early adulthood significantly form the habit until old age. So teens who are physically active tend to remain active throughout his life. So keep the habit of regular physical activity is very important.

With regular exercise can also have some benefits as quoted from MayoClinic, among others:

1. Keeping the weight remains within the normal range.
2. Prevent disease.
3. Improve mood.
4. Improving energy.
5. Getting better sleep quality.

A recent study has been conducted involving 683 adolescents aged 12-15 years with Canada. The results of these studies found that, 24 percent decline in physical activity from adolescence to early adulthood. The results also showed a significant decrease among adolescent males who entered the university or college.

The results of these studies have been published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Decrease in physical activity is also usually in conjunction with other risky behaviors, like smoking and consuming alcoholic beverages.

"When I entered university life, students often forget the needs of sports. Women, who are less physically active as a student, showed only modest decrease in physical activity. This is probably because women are experiencing the greatest decline in physical activity before adolescence," said Dr.. Kwan.
